Concerned citizens of Mosby have again asked for the resignation of Alderman Sean Cacioppo at a special meeting held July 21 at Mosby City Hall.

Residents called for his removal last Thursday after Cacioppo made a motion two days earlier to reinstate the Mosby Police Department.

At the July 19 meeting, Alderman Jason Stooksbury seconded the motion and the vote passed, 2-1. Alderwoman Linda Danner cast the dissenting vote.

It was two days after the vote was taken that Mosby officials confirmed that they considered the vote to be official.

But a lengthy process remains to reinstate the police department. It begins with the city petitioning the state for reinstatement.

On Thursday, Mosby resident Tammy Kilgore read the chief complaint against Cacioppo. She served as spokesperson for the group of concerned citizens.

“The citizens demand that since Sean Cacioppo does not live here, has no permits to legally repair his property, has made no effort to rebuild in a reasonable timeframe, is not the legal owner of the property on which he lived, and has no interest in the town other than selling it out, be removed from the council until a time he resides here and is eligible to run for a government position,” Kilgore said.

Cacioppo simply shook his head at the statement.

The monthly special meeting is held in order for residents to ask questions of the board. Last week, the residents also inquired about playground equipment that was recently dismantled near the former police station and sought a date for when there will be dumpsters in town for residents to use. The group also requested that the board reverses its vote on the police department.

“You guys have made some bad decisions,” Kilgore said. “And since you have, that affects everybody in this town. You all are supposed to be up there working for the people, not only the people, but yourselves. But you’re not doing that. You’re not working for everyone.”
