Individual results showed vast improvement at the Class 3 District 8 tournament held Monday, May, 2 at Shiloh Springs Golf Course in Platte City, Mo., but the overall team result did not for the Tigers golfers.
Excelsior Springs finished 10th out of the 10 teams with enough golfers to qualify for a team score. The Tigers shot a team 406, 99 strokes behind team champion Pembroke Hill and 34 behind Kearney who finished in ninth place.
Individually Noah Birkeness finished in a tie for 40th after improving his score to par from last years’ district tournament by 17 strokes. Jeffrey Mackey improved by 26 strokes and finished in a tie for 42nd.
Wade Hyatt finished in a tie for 50th after shooting a 41-over 112 a four-stroke improvement from last year.
Spencer Pingel was the top finisher for the Tigers. He finished in a tie for 36th with a 26-over 97. He came in seven strokes over the cut line to advance to sectionals as the lone Tigers golfer without district experience.
