Doris E. Davis Roos, 89, of Liberty, Mo., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 12, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Doris was born June 28, 1926, in Sorento, Ill., to Arthur G. and Alice Hartley Davis. She grew up three blocks from Arthur Roos in Wood River, Ill., and married him on June 7, 1946. They moved to Chicago, where she helped Art complete his optometric training, then back to the St. Louis area until 1954, when they moved to Excelsior Springs, Mo. After retiring, they moved to Liberty, Mo., in 2004. Doris was a homemaker and administrator in their optometric office. She was very active in The First United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, was a member of the 2nd Milers Sunday school class and belonged to the Excelsior Springs chapter of PEO.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Roberta L. Hill; and brother, Wayne H. Davis, all of Wood River, Ill.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Arthur K. Roos, and daughter, Carol (Jim) Cleek, all of Liberty, Mo.; son, Keith (Judy) Roos, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; grandchildren, Jason Roos, Jinifer Roos, Brian Cleek, Julie Cleek and Kendra Cassidy; and great-grandchildren, Katelyn Roos and Patrick Cassidy.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, followed by a celebration of her life at 3 p.m., both at the First United Methodist Church, 1650 Rainbow Blvd., Excelsior Springs, Mo. Interment will follow in Glenridge Cemetery, Liberty, Mo. Arrangements are through Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 816-781-8228.
