Raymond Lee “Romeo” Coleman, 81, of Excelsior Springs, Mo. (formerly of Orrick, Mo.), passed away early Monday morning, Aug. 17, 2015, at the Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehab Center.
Raymond was born on Feb. 23, 1934, in Orrick, Mo., to Virgil and Emma (Swiggert) Coleman. He had lived most of his life in the Orrick community. He left Orrick and moved to Excelsior Springs following the great flood of 1993. Raymond had worked as a truck driver for the Orrick Dehydrating Co. for many years. He loved sports and was a follower and fan of the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Before his health failed, Romeo was in attendance at the Orrick Bearcats football games and was a big fan of the team.
In 2011, Raymond was united in marriage to Martha Lewellen in Excelsior Springs. Martha preceded him in death in 2013.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil “Red” O’Conner and Lonnie O’Conner; a sister, Ruby Fern “Coleman” Lee in March of 2012; and a niece, Patricia (Coleman) Gardner.
He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Wilson, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
At his request, Raymond has been cremated. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are through Gowing Funeral Home, Orrick, Mo.
