Based on food-establishment inspections conducted by the Clay County Public Health Center in 2015, several Excelsior Springs operations were recognized for outstanding efforts in food safety.

Dari-B, the Excelsior Springs Elks Lodge #1001, Walmart Bakery and Walmart Deli all received the Food Safety Excellence Award from the health center.

The award recognizes the establishments for maintaining substantial compliance with the Clay County Food Code, exhibiting outstanding food safety and sanitization practices and for achieving exceptional inspection results during the calendar year.

“Restaurant owners recognize that food safety is just as important as taste and are essential public health partners, ensuring safe food for our community,” said Becky Steiner, section chief, environmental health protection at Clay’s health center. “We particularly appreciate the outstanding measures these Food Safety Excellence award recipients have taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable dining experience for Clay County residents and guests.”

In Clay County there were 81 awards issued.
