Virginia Ruth McClellan, 88, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away peacefully on Feb. 18, 2016, surrounded by family and friends.

Virginia was born March 7, 1927, in Purdin, Mo., to the late Gail and Elizabeth Zimmerman. On May 15, 1949, she married Willard “Mac” McClellan, who preceded her in death in 1996.

Virginia was a loving and devoted housewife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and adding to her teddy bear collection. Her smile and sly sense of humor brightened the lives of all those she met.

Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Smith, Washington; a son, Michael, Arkansas; a daughter, Mary, Excelsior Springs; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Joey) Frost, Lawson, and Janette (John) King, Lathrop; three very special “honorary” daughters, Vicki Pollard, Lawson, Sharon O’Dell, Excelsior Springs, and Robin Bogart, Holt; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Laclede Cemetery, Laclede, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Subiaco Abbey, 405 N Subiaco Ave, Subiaco, AR 72865. Arrangements are through Hidden Valley Funeral Home, 412 N Raum St, Lawson, MO 64062; 816-580-3000.
