The Excelsior Springs City Council voted 5-0 on Monday night, Dec. 7, to not only approve a rezoning for a new medical office building, but also the preliminary and final plats for the project.
The McCleary Medical Plaza, a medical office building consisting of about 9,282 square feet of space, will be built at the northeast corner of the intersection of U.S. 69 and McCleary Road, between the VA Clinic and the highway. The applicant for the project is Foresight Land Holdings, LLC, represented by John R. Davis.
Prior to Monday night’s council action, the 2.15-acre property was zoned M-1, Light Industrial District. The new zoning is C-3, Service Business District, the same as the VA clinic next door.
The rezoning had been recommended on a 7-0 vote from the Excelsior Springs Planning & Zoning Commission at their November meeting.
The preliminary and final plats for the new construction, which show not only the way the property will be laid out but also the setup of the 66-space parking lot with two points of access to McCleary Road, were approved with little discussion beyond a brief presentation by Planning Director Shannon McGuire.
