Donald E. Sharp, 90, of Boonville, formerly of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 at his home.
Donald E. Sharp was born Nov. 26, 1928 in Excelsior Springs, the son of Huey Sharp and Myrtle Clevenger Sharp. Don graduated Excelsior Springs High School in 1946. He married his high school sweetheart Billie Nann Pointer on Sept. 21, 1947 in Excelsior Springs.
Don worked for A&P grocery in Excelsior Springs then transferred to Boonville, Missouri in 1960, then to Belton in 1975, retiring in 1983 with over 35 years. He later worked at Cosentinos in Kansas City until final retirement in 1991. He was a former member of the Flack Memorial Church in Excelsior Springs until 1960. Don moved back to Boonville in 2007 to be closer to family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and church treasurer.
Don loved fishing, gardening and woodworking. Most of all his family was the most important thing to him, he looked forward to seeing any of his grandchildren when they came to visit.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Myrtle; his four brothers: Marvin, Vernon, Ralph and Ivan; and a niece.
He is survived by his wife Billie, of the home; sons: Michael W. (Sherry) Sharp of Kansas City, Missouri, Gary L. (Carrolyn) Sharp and Vernon (Brenda) Sharp, both of Boonville; daughter, Jan (Kenney) Wyatt of Callao, Missouri. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Mirlene Sharp of Kearney, Missouri; two nephews, grandchildren: Sarah (Tanner) Comegys, Nick (Miriam) Sharp, Amanda Sharp, Austin (Maria) Wyatt and Zach (Victoria) Wyatt; and great-grandchildren: Haley, Adie and Emmett Comegys.
Graveside services will be Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at 1 p.m. in Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
