November 30, 2018—An Excelsior Springs man will serve 12 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Chavez Nathan Lee Aldridge appeared before Clay County Division 4 courtroom Judge Larry Harman Tuesday, Nov. 27.
A Grand Jury indicted Aldridge alleging he, along with an accomplice, participated in an armed robbery of an Excelsior Springs gas station.
A Probable Cause Statement filed in Clay County by the Excelsior Springs Police Department said two men entered the Conoco Quick Shop at 3:05 a.m. on Aug. 17, 2017. The pair, dressed in all black clothing, entered through the unlocked front door.
“One male jumped over the counter and began grabbing cash from the register … and two cartons of Camel cigarettes,” a Quick Shop employee told police in the report.
The employee told police the men entered the store as the employee swept the floor. The second male approached him/her, so they got to the ground.
“The male placed his knee on (the employee’s) back and held a knife to (their) neck.”
The witness told authorities the men left the store and fled on foot towards the Excelsior Village Apartments. Surveillance video from the business and assistance by Clay County Sheriff’s Department K9 unit aided ESPD officers in identifying the two men.
Authorities later identified the men as Aldridge and Jason Tyler Hahn. When police contacted the men later that afternoon, they both were carrying backpacks with items taken during the robbery inside.
A Grand Jury indicted Aldridge two charges, Robbery in the 1st Degree, a Class A Felony, and an unclassified Felony count of Armed Criminal Action.
Aldridge pleaded guilty to 1st Degree Robbery Oct. 4. He remained in custody and presented by counsel at Tuesday’s sentencing.
Harman sentenced Aldridge to the custody of Missouri Department of Corrections for a period of 12 years. Aldridge remains in custody of Clay County Detention Center until he can be transferred to MDOC.
His accomplice, Hahn, was released on bond and was scheduled to appear in court for a Plea Hearing Thursday, Nov. 29. Details of the hearing were not available prior to deadline.
