Dorothy M. Williams
February 24, 1927 – February 27, 2018

A native Texan, Dorothy and her family moved to Waco in 1938. There she met the love of her life, George. They married in 1947, raised two children together, and made the best of a long and happy life.

Dorothy held many jobs during her career, before retiring in 1986 as a credit manager for Commerce Bank. She and George, who retired from the Union Pacific, moved to Excelsior Springs in 1987. She was a wonderful cook and loved nothing more than to feed a crowd of friends. An accomplished seamstress, she was known for making special clothes for newborn babies of family and friends. A life-long Baptist, she was most recently a member of the First Baptist Church of Kearney and had many friends from a number of local congregations.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter Lynna; her parents Fred and Mattie Starr Martin; her brothers Joel and Clarence; and her sisters Genoa and Minnie.

She is survived by her husband George; her son Marty (Terrie); her grandson Devon (Lisa); great-grandchildren Karac and Bridgette, and many dear friends, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Monday, March 5, with service immediately following at Bross and Spidle Chapel, 217 W. Broadway Ave., Excelsior Springs. Inurnment to follow at Excelsior Springs Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Preferred Hospice of Missouri (Northwest).
