LIVE FEED — Six Tigers wrestlers make it to state competition

Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, 9 p.m.Update — The wrestling semifinals were held today, and finals will be held tomorrow. Matches and results for the ES Tigers after today’s competition are as follows:

In the 106-weight class, Ethan Day lost against Monett’s Joseph Semerad in the quarterfinals, placing Day in the third place bracket. Day won his next match by fall over Logan Blickhan from Kirksville advancing to win his next match by fall over Bryston Pemberton of Dexter. Day will advance to the semifinals to play for third or fifth place where he will compete against Granite Cunningham of Bolivar.

Damon Ashworth, in the 120-weight class,  lost agaisnt Austin Coons of Odessa in the quarterfinals, placing Ashworth in the third place bracket. Then, Ashworth won by a 8-2 decision over St. Clair’s Dalton Thompson, and  won by fall over Donovan Gaines of Kirksville. Tomorrow, Ashworth will compete in the third place bracket semifinals against Isaiah Simmons from El Dorado Springs.

In 132-weight class, Hunter Williams won by a 6-2 decision over Jacob Kern of Fulton, advancing Williams to the semifinals. In the next match, Williams lost by major decision against St. Clair’s Jason Landing, placing him in the third place bracket semifinals, scheduled to compete against Dylan Patton from Mexico tomorrow.

Dane Millsap, in 145-weight class,  lost against Booneville’s Brant Whitaker in the quarterfinals. Millsap won by a 7-1 decision over Luke Vitt from Moberly, but was taken out of the third place bracket after losing by a close, 7-5 decision against Jared Humbolt from Ste. Genevieve.

In 160-weight class, Dylan Young lost by fall against Luke Slater of Moberly, eliminating him from the competition.

Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, 4:30 p.m. Update — Dylan Young won his second match today against William Mayberry of Central Park Hills, working his way through the bracket to hopefully compete for third place.

Dylan Casey lost in his second match today against Tristan Brown of Sullivan, and will no longer be wrestling in the competition.

The Tigers are currently ranked 21st out of 206 teams competing, with a total of 17 points.

Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, 2 p.m. Update — First round results are in for your ES Tigers wrestlers at state.

In the 106-weight class, Ethan Day won by fall against Sullivan. He will advance to quarterfinals.

At 120-weight class, Damon Ashworth won by fall over Priory. He will advance to quarterfinals.

Hunter Williams, in the 132-weight class, won by fall against Bolivar. He will advance to quarterfinals.

In 145-weight class, Dane Millsap won by a 4-2 decision over Potosi. He will advance to quarterfinals.

At 160-weight class, Dylan Young lost by fall to Bolivar.

In 285-weight class, Dylan Casey lost by fall against Odessa.

Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, 8 a.m. Update — Six Excelsior Springs High School Tigers will be traveling to state competition. Dane Millsap, Dylan Casey, Damon Ashworth, Dylan Young, Ethan Day and Hunter Williams will be heading to state competition at Mizzou Arena with matches beginning Friday, Feb. 16.
